The Saturdays - Biography

The Saturdays is a british and irish pop/dance music girlband formed by five girls: the irish songwirter and guitarrist Una Healy and the british Rochelle Wiseman, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford and Vanessa White. Two of the members, Rochelle and Frankie, were previously part of a british group called S Club Juniors, later renamed S Club 8. In the summer of 2007 the band The Saturdays were formed under the label of Fascination Records, a division of Polydor.

They were the opening act of Girls Aloud during their "Tangled Up Tour" in 2008. The Jonas Brothers and Take That have also received support from The Saturdays.

The first album, Chasing Lights, was recorded during May and June of 2008, supported by many producers and writers like Ina Wroldsen and Alex Cartana. Chasing Lights has produced 4 singles Top 10. Their debut single If This Is Love, was released on July 28, 2008 and reached number 8 in the Official UK Top 40. Followed by Up wich entered at #5, Issues which reached #4 and Just Can not Get Enough which reached #2 on charts, becoming the most high charting single from The Saturdays until the release of Forever Is Over in October. It was official Comic Relief single and led to the reissue of the album to include the song, and It's also a version of the Depeche Mode classic.

The girls released the fifth and final single from Chasing Lights on 29 June 2009, Work, which coincided with the beginning of their first tour The Work Tour.

On October 12, 2009 the group released their second studio album, Wordshaker, which contains (as they said) lyrics more worked and mature. They also worked with producers who worked with Rihanna, Ashley Tisdale and others. The first single from the new album entered at #2 on the UK charts, being the first original single from The Saturdays to reach the #2.
The group has announced that the second single from the album Wordshaker, Ego will go on sale the 5th January 2009.
The second album entered in the UK charts at #9 with 15,022 copies sold in the first week.
